My buddy Tanner sent over this track yesterday from ex-SF resident and former member of Tempo No Tempo, Tyler McCauley. His new project is called Motion Studies…and it’s very worth checking out. EOTB is extremely thrilled to be hosting the gifted Julia Holter at Rickshaw Stop on April 29th. Kicking off the night will be the quirky tunes of multimedia artist Jib Kidder and a set from renowned percussionist and Mills College professor, William Winant. This will be a choice night for sonic stimulation. I hope to see you there!

Shortcircles - Time Time Time

Yesterday Oakland producer Matt Tammariello aka Shortcircles dropped a brand new self-titled EP on Plug Research, home of fellow musician and friend Elephant & Castle. On this label debut, Shortcircles shows off his craft with clever beat arrangements, tactfully placed samples and at times even some pop flavorings like in “Time Time Time.” If you missed hearing these songs at his amazing debut performance at my show last week, that’s a real shame. Roman Ruins - Mighty Love

Roman Ruins is a project from Oakland’s Graham Hil, occasional drummer for bands like Beach House and Papercuts. After a few small releases in recent years, Gold Robot Records will be putting out his fantastic debut LP called Homebuilding on February 28th. For the past month, I’ve been secretly enjoying this record and now I’m really excited to premiere the opening song “Mighty Love.” This track sets the tone for a very smooth-flowing album - so smooth in fact, that the vinyl is pressed into two continuous sides with no breaks between the tracks. Definitely keep an eye out for this one.

Some Ember - Deep Ocean

My buddy Dylan Travis from local band Man/Miracle has been sneakily working on an electronic solo endeavor called Some Ember for some time now. Yesterday, he premiered a track called “Deep Ocean” on the completely stacked Crash Symbols compilation Dope Mountain Fuck Vol. 2. Dylan’s vocals, like always, are amazing, but this time, we get a taste of his bad ass production skills too. Make sure to grab a copy of the comp if you haven’t yet.

Every - Frendoe

My buddy sent me his buddy’s new album the other day and it quickly won me over. Every is a project from RISD student Leif Gann-Matzen. His new album Scant Cursory (out on Ounce Music) features tasty beat compositions with heavy injections of samples and guitar riffs throughout. Check out a few more of his songs here: “Desert Dr”; “Every Limb”; “Radar.” Hopefully the album will get posted to Bandcamp soon, but for now you can buy it here.

Los Angeles/London band LEAGUE released a short EP this month called How Do I Know. The band is made up of former journalism and architecture students that dropped out of college to live in a tent on the beach. Apparently it inspired the creation of some great pop tunes. Sandro Perri - Love & Light

Last week filmmaker Pedro Maia sent me a beautiful video he made for “Love & Light,” off the new Sandro Perri record Impossible Spaces coming out on Constellation Records next week. Ever since I haven’t been able to get this record off my mind. What I’ve heard so far sounds incredible. I also featured “Love & Light” in a post today that I created for Noise Pop’s Soapbox blog, called, 2011 Is Not Over Yet. It highlights some end of the year releases that shouldn’t be lost in the sea of pre-maturely posted “Best of” lists.
