    Floating Action - 50 Lashes

    Photo: Sandlin Gaither

I only recently became aware of this group, but their sound is one that I just can’t ignore. Using classic influences that stretch from Motown to early Caribbean, Floating Action delivers uncluttered, laid back music just in time for the warming weather. “50 Lashes” has that unmistakable island sound that recalls familiar artists like Toots and the Maytals and Jimmy Cliff minus the patois. If this sounds like your type of tune check out their self-titled album released tomorrow!
