This is a track from the new compilation “Dark Was the Night,” created by The National’s Aaron and Bryce Dessner and the AIDS charity Red Hot. As of January 15th they began releasing one track a day on their Myspace page until the album is released on February 16th. Not a bad marketing strategy for a compilation! This track gives the familiar feel of The National with some nice flutters of woodwind and xylophone that dance above the rhythm. Check back every day for new tracks here! Extra credit:
