Soft Powers - 1,300 Decibels

Somehow I didn’t hear anything about this Soft Powers album Outlandish Scandals. Maybe because it came out during SXSW madness? I needed to get my Soft Powers on the other day and this was just chilling out on their Bandcamp page. After releasing a handful of singles, a few EPs and an album in 2010, it floors me that they still have enough energy to drop an album like this one. It’s honestly a brilliant, complex collection of tunes ranging from wild numbers like “Blanc - Ramayana” and “Cuda” to the soft, romantic “Endlessly.” “1,300 Decibels” fits right in the middle with another favorite “Violence” - which both remind me of old Radiohead tunes. If you also slept on this like me, do yourself a favor and give it a listen immediately.
