Coachella 2010. Mixed bag, but nice to see some “younger” acts headlining for a change. If you think about it there are only a few dozen acts in the world capable of headlining a major festival and since most of them are old man bands, that number is quickly decreasing. It’s no news that MTV has been the main power cultivating big name acts since major music festivals resurfaced a decade ago. These artists have been raised on TV, red carpets and the elaborate sets they perform on -  rather than the more organic process of working their way up the live show hierarchy based on pure crowd-pleasing talent. Since it appears that major music festivals are going to be around for some time, I wonder if we’ll see a different system fall in place that brings great performers up through the ranks all the way to the headlining spot - so our next decade is covered. Maybe we can ask the old timer on stage for advice since it worked in his day. Just some food for thought.
So, what do you guys think of the lineup?
