New Animal - Grow Back Out

New Animal is Kris Hermstad and Derek Burdette, a talented psych-pop duo from Atlanta who just released their self-titled debut album on the internet for free earlier this month. These two guys must be soaked in creativity because this first record of theirs is meaty. In fact, not a single song runs under 4 minutes in length. “Grow Back Out” - 5.5 minutes long - is an expertly paced, sweet-melodied ballad that immediately jumped out at me on my first listen. The tune manages to have a dynamic, forward-moving energy to it without exploding into some expected epic climax that blows your speakers out. Stream the album here or download here.
