Toro Y Moi - Take The L To Eave

Most likely you’ve read the chatter about Toro Y Moi’s upcoming releases (yes two albums) in 2010, and like me, you’re pretty stoked about them. South Carolina multi-instrumentalist Chaz Bundick is like Ernest Greene’s (Washed Out) gentler-styled cousin to the north, although some of his songs do get pretty heavy with the electro beats. We can anticipate a lot of brilliantly woven compositions from this talented one man operation in the first 2010 album called Causers Of This, out February 23rd. It’s sure to be an early favorite. There are also some other tunes of his I’ve discovered floating around that seem like early recordings, though I’m not aware of their background. Today’s tune I discovered hiding at the bottom of Toro Y Moi’s Myspace playlist and can’t get enough of it. Bundick works in a rich soulfulness over the pop rhythm as he drifts in and out of a falsetto singing style. Though it seems much different then what I’ve heard from February’s record, I hope there’s more like it to come.
