    Le Loup - Grow

Hailing from out nation’s capital is Le Loup, a talented act that took some time for me to really appreciate. Call me a fan now. Their latest album Family is a savory mix of styles with lots of folk influence and a hearty presence of percussive instruments. The album’s eclecticism reminds me a lot of a personal favorite from this year, Megafaun’s Gather, Form & Fly. Also, during vocal harmonies you’ll hear similarities to Fleet Foxes and, at times, even Animal Collective - like in the song “Family.” These are great things. “Grow” is a particular gem on the recent release that stands out from what I described above. This peppy number pretty much nails the early rock and roll sound, especially with the crooner singing style. It’s also worth mentioning the album cover is an exceptionally mesmerizing use of color. Note: It’s not a Magic Eye puzzle in case you’re wondering. Believe me, I tried.
