Avi Buffalo - What’s In It For?

My buddy played this song a few days ago at work and it’s been bouncing around in my brain ever since. Yes, it’s catchy and has brilliant guitar and background vocals, but the real kicker is the Port O’Brieny, Thao Nguyenish effect going too. You know, the loveable, innocent vocal range we all love, in case you aren’t following my homemade adjectives. Avi Buffalo is a group of Long Beach, CA youth who are making their first leap to a larger audience. In fact, yesterday I heard them on KCRW’s internet stream. The band was also recently signed to the illustrious Sub Pop who will be putting out their debut album in the Spring. In the mean time, a 7” - which includes today’s tune - will drop December 8th. This song really builds up a lot of expectation for more to come, but I have a good feeling about this band.
