    Wallpaper. - Doodoo Face

*I think Tumblr messed up when I posted this last weekend. Did you guys see this already?

This is not exactly the norm for EOTB music, but it’s about time I threw out a shocker! Funny thing, I remember thinking that same thing last spring when Wallpaper’s remix of “Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell” arrived in my inbox. Connection? Yes of course. This act is just irresistible musically speaking. Every song is like an orgy of pop, electro and hip hop clichés with P-Funk-esque jive talk sprinkled here and there. It’s like this weird four-way love child of Rick James, George Clinton, Mac Dre and an auto-tuner..

The clever compositions of Facing New York’s Eric Frederic and the underlying tone of satire channeled through his alter-ego Ricky Reed are truly a heavy hitting combination. In fact, partying seems like the natural response to every song, say for the impressive outlier “Fine GF.” ”Doodoo Face,” however, is the ultimate intro to Wallpaper! While it actually concludes the new album (of same title), it really sets up the listener with a clear portrait for Wallpaper’s main focus Ricky Reed and his jive talkin’ madness. The dialogue in this song is really hilarious. Pay close attention! Also “I Got Soul, I’m So Wasted” is perhaps one of the most solid, albeit ridiculous party songs on the album. Had to throw it in the mix as well. If you’re in SF, make sure to catch Wallpaper’s album release party tonight at the Rickshaw Stop complete with live band. If not, check out the Myspace for tour info.
