Yawn - Kind of Guy
I can’t recall exactly how I came across this band, but I upon finding their new EP in my iTunes this morning I do at least remember why I downloaded it. This Chi-town crew reminds me a lot of Animal Collective with the experimental sounds and wash of echoey vocals, although there is also this Vampire Weekend-like African rhythm thing going on as well. My opinion: Quite a nice hybrid. The band has been kind enough to offer their debut EP as a free download on their website. That’s reason enough to check these guys out. What have you got to lose?
