Taken By Trees - My Boys (Animal Collective Cover)

There’s not much more that can be said about Animal Collective’s hit extraordinaire “My Girls,” but then Swedish singer Victoria Bergsman had to go and make this amazing cover. The former lead singer of The Concretes calls her solo project Taken By Trees and seems to be very inspired by the experimental trio - she even has Noah Lennox sing on “Anna,” a very ethereal track on her new album East of Eden. Aside from the gender role change to “My Boys,” the real difference in this song is the simple, whimsical approach to the instrumentals. It’s a pleasant change of style - taking the epic feel out of the original and making it more organic and approachable.
