    Vandaveer - Divide & Conquer

A few weeks back I was sent Vandaveer’s upcoming album Divide & Conquer. Since I recently moved, the CD was sent to my previous residence and I had to wait until this past week to finally get my hands on the new tunes. Well it couldn’t have been a better time, because I really needed some relaxing folk to calm my nerves the past several days (my family’s home had a close call with the Santa Cruz Mountains fire that’s been going on…enough said).

The title track and album opener from Vandaveer’s new record draws you in with it’s light, acoustic guitar rhythm and elegant piano riff. Bandleader Mark Charles and his sister Rose Guerin supply a soothing duet with a campfire-like quality to it, driving home that organic folk style. This is a perfect “mood” album, that would find its way into the same situations as recent releases from groups like Bon Iver, Vetiver and even classic records like Nick Drake’s Pink Moon. Vandaveer’s new albumĀ Divide & Conquer is out August 25th.
