    Volcano Choir - Island, IS

A long Sunday of hipping and hopping and working at Rock the Bells SF and a Monday of yawning set me back and left me unprepared for material today. Thankfully a volcano erupted in the music world this morning as the latest project from Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon was released. Volcano Choir is not an extremely huge leap for Vernon, but based on the first single “Islands, IS” we should be in for another killer album. What makes this new project stand out is the change of instrumentals that accompany Vernon’s familiar falsetto. This time the trusty acoustic guitar and chilly silence between lines of lyric are ditched for a sound that is based on loops and larger percussion presence. Look for their debut album Unmap to be released September 22. Enjoy!
