    Bowerbirds - Northern Lights

Early this past month Raleigh, North Carolina outfit Bowerbirds proudly released their latest record Upper Air. Being a recent discovery of mine, I don’t know the evolution of the group, but it feels like they really push their sound on this recent album. Sure, their sound is not exactly edgy, but it is polished and brilliantly composed. Most notable is my favorite “Northern Lights” with its essential rhythm guitar and syncopated piano that build up throughout the song. Like many other tracks, this song delivers the right amount of power without losing its chilled out folk essence. If this sounds good to you, then make sure to check out Upper Air.
