Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros - Carries On

This is perhaps one of the more magical endeavors I’ve encountered this year of music 2009. Ima Robot lead singer Alex Ebert plays Edward Sharpe and with his small army of a band (11-12 people), they deliver beautifully crafted folk revival tunes. Between the dated-looking album cover, the bus they travel in and their organic essence, it’s clear Ebert want this new project to be as pure a revival as possible. The full sound this huge group creates can’t help but sound cinematic, but it’s thankfully not in the bad sense. Edward Sharpe and his Magnetic Zeros have ventured across a brilliantly genuine style that borrows from a dynamic range of influence. The debut album From Below flows so gracefully your mind begins to feel like its resting in a meadow of wildflowers - right where your inner hippy wants you!
